About This Place

Nestled in the heart of North Lauderdale, Lion Chef Chinese Restaurant offers an authentic taste of Chinese cuisine with a distinct New York flair. Specializing in classic favorites, this local gem is especially renowned for its flavorful Lo Mein, a dish that perfectly balances tender noodles with savory sauces and fresh vegetables, delivering a comforting yet vibrant experience with every bite.

The dining atmosphere at Lion Chef is unpretentious and casual, making it an ideal spot for a quick, satisfying meal or a relaxed takeout order. While the interior could benefit from some modernization, the restaurant more than compensates with consistently cooked-to-order dishes that evoke the nostalgia of authentic Chinese eateries in New York, as many customers have joyfully noted. This connection to authentic flavors creates a unique bond for patrons who crave genuine Chinese food outside metropolitan hubs.

One cannot talk about Lion Chef without mentioning their standout menu offerings. Customers regularly praise the Jumbo Ham Fried Rice, which comes loaded with fresh onions and scallions, offering a robust and hearty flavor—though some suggest adding a pinch of salt to tailor it to personal taste. The pork Lo Mein draws particular acclaim for its rich, satisfying texture and perfectly balanced seasoning, making it a must-try for any visitor.

Service here is efficient and friendly, with orders typically prepared fresh and ready in just a few minutes. For example, fried dishes often delight with quick turnarounds, allowing diners to enjoy their meals piping hot without long waits. More involved dishes, like broccoli and chicken, may require a bit more patience, but the quality and freshness justify the brief delay.

While some menu items like the egg rolls receive mixed reviews—with more resemblance to spring roll filling—they still complement the overall quality of the meal. The team at Lion Chef manages orders swiftly through a convenient service window, enabling an easy pick-up experience that suits busy locales and delivery requests alike.

In essence, Lion Chef Chinese Restaurant stands out as a reliable and tasty option for those seeking genuine Chinese flavors in North Lauderdale. It’s a place where comfort food meets authenticity, served with care and a nod to the classic New York style that many have remarked brings them back time and again.

For an honest, flavorful Chinese meal cooked fresh to order, Lion Chef is a culinary discovery that’s worth every visit and bite.

I've read the past reviews but I've had nothing but great experiences (about 6 different times so far), both with their food and service. The restaurant could use a makeover but my orders have always been cooked to order and have tasted great. I'm originally from NY and this reminds me of the Chinese food places there. Perhaps with some of the past reviews, there were language issues since the owner speak very little english. Otherwise, it's a good place with a large amount of choices on their menu.

Good 'New York Style' Fried Rice and Lo Mein! Better than others in the area. Had a Jumbo Ham fried rice and it was a huge trat, good taste with onions and scallions, you may have to add a pinch of salt to your own liking. Great pork Lo Mein. Had egg rolls and they were ok, more spring roll filling than egg roll in my opinion, but not bad. They take your order at a service window at the door. Will definitely go again!!

What you buy fried cooks faster, the wait is legit 5 minuites unless you get something like (boiled) Brococali and chicken it'll be 15 minuites or more
